Examiner Bureau | Jammu, Feb 20:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday reiterated his government’s commitment to filling vacancies in a time-bound manner, announcing that more than 30,000 posts will be filled during the current year.
The Chief Minister made the statement while replying to a question raised by Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat during the Question Hour of the ongoing Budget Session of the Legislative Assembly.
Informing the House, the Chief Minister said that vacancies arise periodically in various government departments, including field-level posts, due to retirements, promotions, resignations and other administrative reasons. “There are institutional mechanisms in place for periodic assessment of vacancies and timely referral to the concerned recruiting agencies in accordance with statutory provisions,” he said.
He further emphasized that adequate staff strength is maintained across departments to ensure that essential services and field-level functions are not adversely affected. Wherever required, interim administrative arrangements are made in accordance with established rules to maintain smooth functioning.
Highlighting the steps taken to accelerate the recruitment process, the Chief Minister said the government has initiated several measures, including advance identification and consolidation of vacancies, time-bound referral of requisitions to recruiting agencies, streamlining of procedural formalities, and regular administrative-level monitoring.
He added that the government remains focused on ensuring efficiency, transparency and accountability in the recruitment process while expediting appointments to strengthen public service delivery across Jammu and Kashmir.
