Examiner Bureau | Jammu, Feb 25:
The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (JKACB) on Wednesday registered a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case against Vijay Singh Choudhary, an Inspector in the J&K Police, following a verification initiated on specific inputs.

According to an official statement, the Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted a detailed verification into allegations that the officer had amassed assets far beyond his known sources of income. The inquiry reportedly revealed that while posted at various locations, the accused had accumulated assets worth crores of rupees, allegedly disproportionate to his legitimate earnings.

The verification further indicated that more than ten properties — including houses, shops, and land parcels measuring around 100 kanals — were acquired, many of them purportedly in the names of family members, relatives, and associates.

On the basis of these findings, a prima facie case of criminal misconduct was established against the accused under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Consequently, FIR No. 02/2026 was registered at Police Station ACB Central, and a formal investigation was launched.

During the course of the probe, search warrants were obtained from the Court of the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu. ACB teams subsequently conducted coordinated searches at multiple locations, including the officer’s residences at Santokh Vihar, Kaluchak (Jammu), and Nonial in Nowshera (Rajouri district), as well as business premises — including a stone crusher unit and a tile factory at Tutte di Khui, Bajalta, Jammu.

Additional searches were also carried out at other locations in Jammu under relevant provisions of law.

Officials stated that incriminating documents were recovered and seized during the raids. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
