Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet on Tuesday strongly condemned the recent attack on Farooq Abdullah, president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

According to an official spokesperson, the cabinet unanimously denounced the attack and stressed the need for a comprehensive probe to identify those responsible.
During the meeting, the cabinet also approved an 18 per cent increase in passenger vehicle fares, partially meeting a long-standing demand of transporters who had been seeking a hike for the past five years. Transporters had demanded a 50 per cent increase, but the government agreed to a more moderate revision.
To improve public transport services, the government has also decided to deploy 200 additional buses on the roads across the Union Territory.
The cabinet further approved the enhancement of travel allowance (TA), daily allowance (DA) and medical allowances for ministers, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), the Speaker and the Leader of Opposition.
Addressing concerns over the ongoing cooking gas shortage, the spokesperson said there is adequate stock of LPG available in Jammu and Kashmir and urged people not to panic.
The government also appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities, adding that special teams have been constituted to monitor markets and prevent black marketing of LPG cylinders.
