Examiner Bureau | Rajouri : At least seven persons were injured after a passenger vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Thannamandi area of Rajouri on Saturday, officials said.
According to officials, an Eeco Van bearing registration number JK14E-4195 was travelling from Mahore to the revered Shahdara Sharief Shrine when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle near Thannamandi. The car skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge, resulting in injuries to all seven occupants.
The injured have been identified as Mohd Rafiq, Naseem Begum, Amir, Mohd Tanveer, Fatima Bano, Zatoon Begum, and Abdul Hameed, all residents of Mahore.
Locals immediately rushed to the accident site and launched a rescue operation, helping evacuate the injured passengers. They were later shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Thannamandi, where doctors provided first aid and necessary medical treatment.
Officials said the condition of all the injured persons is currently stable.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
