A tragic road accident in the Sopat Devsar area of Kulgam district on Wednesday claimed the life of a Jammu and Kashmir Bank employee while leaving three others injured, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Rather, a resident of Watihal Qazigund. He was among four persons who sustained injuries in the accident.
Officials said the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, Shahnawaz later succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts. The condition of the other injured persons is stated to be stable and they are currently under medical observation.
Rather was serving as an employee of Jammu and Kashmir Bank and his untimely death has sent shockwaves among colleagues and residents in his native area.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
