In a tragic road accident in the Bhaderwah area of Doda district, a head constable of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and his wife lost their lives while their two children sustained injuries after their vehicle reportedly plunged into a river on Thursday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Head Constable Zulfikar Ali. According to officials, the family was travelling in an Alto car when the driver lost control of the vehicle near Basti village. The car skidded off the road and rolled down into the river.
In the incident, Zulfikar Ali and his wife died on the spot, while their two children were injured. The head constable was reportedly on his way to duty at the time of the accident.
The injured children were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
