Examiner Bureau |Srinagar:

The body of a four-year-old boy from Pulwama, who went missing after slipping into a stream in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, was recovered on Friday from the Ranbiara nallah in the Hirpora area after an intensive five-day search operation.

Officials identified the deceased as Mohammad Hanzala, a resident of Tiken village in Pulwama. He had accidentally fallen into the fast-flowing stream near Dubjan Bridge on April 27 and was immediately swept away by strong currents.

“The body was retrieved this morning from a downstream location in the Ranbiara stream following sustained search efforts,” an official said.

Soon after the incident, a large-scale rescue operation was launched involving teams from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Authorities deployed specialised equipment to scan deeper sections of the nallah, while additional personnel were mobilised to intensify the search.

Expert civilian rescuers, including a noted volunteer from Doda known for body retrieval operations, also joined the effort, contributing to the eventual recovery.
