Teacher Among Two Arrested for Assisting Foreign Terrorists in Kishtwar

Police Say Accused Provided Shelter and Logistical Support to Militants in Chatroo Area

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday arrested two persons, including a government school teacher, for allegedly aiding foreign terrorists in Kishtwar district, officials said.

According to officials, the arrests were made in connection with a terror hideout case in the Singhpora area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district.

Police said a case has been registered at Police Station Chatroo under FIR No. 03/2026, invoking Sections 61(2), 109, 147 and 148 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 13, 16, 18, 19 and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and Section 7/27 of the Arms Act.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Naresh Singh, said that during the investigation, police arrested Mashkoor Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ramzan and a resident of Beighpora, Singhpora, Kishtwar, who is employed as a teacher in the School Education Department.

The SSP said the accused was directly involved in facilitating the terrorists’ hideout and providing logistical support to foreign militants operating in the region.

Police had earlier arrested another accused, identified as Maneer Ahmed, a resident of Bandeyan Naidgam, for similar offences linked to the case.

Officials said the arrests were made following sustained investigation and targeted operations aimed at dismantling the support network assisting terrorist activities in the district.

Police added that further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend all individuals connected to the network, and assured that strict legal action will be taken against those involved.
