Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone on Thursday criticised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over the decision to hold a review meeting of his 19-month-old government at Dachigam National Park in Srinagar.
In a post on X, Lone termed the move unusual and remarked that the Chief Minister appeared to be “tourist to the core,” referring to the choice of the scenic venue for the government review and strategy session.
“So this is the bombshell threatened by CM sahib. Tourist to the core. A trip to the scenic and beautiful Dachigam,” Lone wrote.
He further said that Dachigam was symbolic of the present government’s functioning, describing the national park as secluded, isolated and restricted in access.
“Dachigam is actually symbolic for today’s congregation. It is secluded, isolated, entry is restricted. That actually sums up the state of the present government,” he said in the social media post.
Lone also made sarcastic remarks about the gathering, suggesting that legislators had been taken to the wildlife reserve and would be expected to either “fall in line” or face consequences.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with National Conference ministers and MLAs, is holding a day-long off-site review and strategy session at Dachigam National Park. The meeting is focused on assessing the government’s performance over the past 19 months and discussing future political and governance priorities.
The deliberations are currently underway, and details regarding the agenda and outcomes of the meeting have not yet been officially disclosed.
