Five IPS officers from the Delhi cadre have been relieved from the Delhi Government and Delhi Police for posting to Jammu and Kashmir under an inter-cadre/segment movement ordered by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
According to an order issued by the Delhi Government’s Home Department on Friday, the officers will be relieved with effect from August 17, 2026, in the afternoon, to enable them to join their new assignments in Jammu and Kashmir.
The five officers being posted to J&K are Vishnu Kumar (IPS, 2019), Rajeev Kumar Ambasta, Deepak Yadav, Anand Kumar Mishra and Satish Kumar.
The order said the transfers have been made in pursuance of MHA orders issued on July 9, 2026, concerning the postings and movements of officers belonging to the AGMUT cadre and Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police Service (DANIPS).
The movement is part of a wider reshuffle involving officers from the Delhi cadre who are being posted to different Union Territories and northeastern states.
Besides the five IPS officers headed for Jammu and Kashmir, the order covers 13 other IPS and DANIPS officers being moved from Delhi to various administrative jurisdictions.
Under the reshuffle, Pratiksha Godara (IPS, 2011) has been posted to Andaman and Nicobar Islands, while Vinit Kumar (IPS, 2018) will move to Chandigarh. Rishi Kumar (IPS, 2021) has been posted to Arunachal Pradesh, while Pawan Kumar will be transferred to Ladakh.
Sikandar Singh has been posted to Puducherry, while Dhirendra Pratap Singh, Nishant Gupta and Amit Kaushik have been assigned to Mizoram. Patel Aalap Manshukh has been posted to Lakshadweep.
Among DANIPS officers, Patil Swagat Rajkumar and Satendra Mohan Meena have been posted to Chandigarh, Neeraj Kumar to Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, and Kailash Singh Bisht to Lakshadweep.
The order, issued by Deputy Secretary (Home) Ramesh Kumar and dated August 14, 2026, has been circulated to the concerned administrations for necessary action.
The posting of five IPS officers to Jammu and Kashmir comes as part of the Centre’s broader cadre-management exercise involving the AGMUT cadre, under which officers are periodically assigned to different Union Territories and other regions based on administrative requirements.
