Two persons were killed after the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Satasar area along the Bani-Basohli road in Kathua district, police said.
The deceased were identified as Gablesh Kumar, son of Bishamber Dass, a resident of Kaloga Roulka in Bani tehsil, and Raj Kumar, son of Badri Nath, a resident of Dandiot Sandroon in Bani tehsil.
According to police officials, the accident occurred during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. After receiving information about the incident, police and other rescue teams launched an operation to locate and retrieve the occupants.
Following several hours of efforts, the teams managed to recover both bodies from the deep gorge.
Police have registered a case at Police Station Bani and initiated further investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident.
