SP Rural Jammu has issued a public alert after a fake social media profile was created using his name and identity, cautioning people against responding to messages or requests originating from the account.
In a warning circulated on social media, the officer urged people not to accept friend or follow requests from the suspicious profile, share personal information or engage with the account in any manner.
He advised users to report and block the profile immediately and exercise caution against any messages or requests sent through it.
A screenshot accompanying the warning shows a profile operating under the name “Singh Ravinderr SP”, with 58 friends, one mutual connection and three posts. The account appears to be using the officer’s name and photographs.
The officer cautioned that people should not fall for any communication originating from the account and urged them to remain vigilant until the fake profile is reported and blocked.
The alert was issued as a precautionary measure to prevent potential misuse of the impersonated identity and protect people from possible online fraud or other forms of cybercrime.
