Examiner Bureau | Anantnag:

Five residential houses were damaged and several people sustained minor injuries after a fire broke out in the Qazi Mohalla area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to officials, the fire erupted at around 2 am in one of the residential houses and quickly spread to adjoining structures, causing extensive damage to property. The Fire and Emergency Services Department rushed fire tenders to the area after receiving the information and, with the assistance of local residents, managed to bring the blaze under control.

An official, while interacting with a local news agency, said that five houses were damaged in the incident and one person suffered minor burn injuries. The injured person was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

Another local report said that two civilians who were assisting firefighters and a firefighter sustained injuries during the operation, though the injuries were described as minor.

The timely intervention of the Fire and Emergency Services personnel prevented the flames from spreading further to other residential structures in the densely built-up area. However, considerable damage had already been caused before the fire was brought under control.

No loss of life has been reported so far. The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the blaze.
