Examiner Bureau | Jammu:

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu Zonal Unit, has seized 385 grams of suspected heroin during an intelligence-based operation in the Digiana area of Jammu and arrested one person reportedly residing in Miran Sahib.

According to a press note issued by NCB Jammu on Saturday, the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs about suspected heroin trafficking. During surveillance, the NCB team intercepted the suspect while he was allegedly attempting to deliver the contraband.

The team recovered and seized four packets containing a total of 385 grams of suspected heroin.

Preliminary investigation has indicated possible links between Jammu-based traffickers and sources in Punjab. The suspected contraband is believed to have been intended for distribution within Jammu district, the bureau said.

Further investigation is underway to identify other persons allegedly involved and establish the forward and backward linkages of the suspected trafficking network, including possible interstate connections.

The NCB has appealed to the public to share credible information about drug trafficking and substance abuse through the National Narcotics Helpline, MANAS (1933). The bureau said information can be shared confidentially.

Reiterating its commitment to combating drug trafficking through intelligence-led enforcement, the NCB said its efforts are aligned with the national mission of Nasha Mukt Bharat.
