Examiner News Desk | Srinagar:
A Volvo bus registered in Jammu and Kashmir was allegedly targeted at Divine Star Dhaba in Haryana around 10:45 pm on October 17, reportedly because of its registration number, according to accounts circulating about the incident.
The bus, operated by Star World Ventures, reportedly sustained damage to its windows and tail lights, while its number plate was also bent. Videos shared online purportedly show shattered glass and debris inside the vehicle, as well as a man with blood on his face. The circumstances of the alleged attack and the nature of the man’s injuries were not independently verified.
The incident has drawn criticism from Jammu and Kashmir political circles, with Peoples Democratic Party leader Waheed-ur-Rehman Para condemning the alleged attack as “senseless and cowardly”.
Para urged Haryana Police to take action against those responsible rather than detaining passengers, according to his reported remarks.
The incident has raised concerns over the safety of Kashmiri passengers travelling on national highways, particularly when vehicles bearing Jammu and Kashmir registration plates are involved.
Details regarding the precise location, the sequence of events, any police complaint or arrests, and the status of the injured person require confirmation from the authorities. The allegation that the bus was targeted specifically because of its J&K registration number has not been independently established.
The authorities concerned are expected to clarify the circumstances of the incident and the action taken, if any, in connection with the alleged attack.
