Around 2,200 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced from their homes in two neighbourhoods of Hebron as Israeli forces continue a military operation in the occupied West Bank, the city’s mayor, Yousef al-Ja’bari, told Al Jazeera.

Al-Ja’bari said residents of the al-Jalda and Ein Deir Bahha neighbourhoods had been displaced amid the ongoing Israeli operation, raising fresh concerns over the humanitarian impact of the military campaign.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces have arrested scores of Palestinians during raids across the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, a rights group.

The group reported raids in 15 areas, including Ramallah, Jenin, Nablus, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Al-Bireh and Birzeit. Further details about the number of detainees and the circumstances of their arrests were not immediately available.

The latest operations come amid continuing Israeli military activity across the occupied territory, where raids, arrests and displacement have intensified concerns among Palestinian residents and rights groups.

Separately, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian criticised the United States over negotiations with Tehran, accusing Washington of undermining efforts to reach an interim agreement.

Pezeshkian said the US had “messed everything up” during the talks but maintained that both sides should make a renewed effort to conclude an agreement.

His remarks signalled a continued willingness to pursue diplomacy despite tensions between the two countries. Further details on the status of negotiations and the prospects for a fresh round of talks were not immediately available.
