Examiner Bureau | Anantnag:

Continuing its intensified campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Anantnag Police has detained eight habitual drug peddlers under relevant preventive provisions of law, following due approval from the Executive Magistrates.

Officials said the individuals were identified as repeat offenders actively involved in narcotics-related activities. Despite facing earlier legal action, they allegedly continued their involvement in the drug trade, posing a serious threat to public health, particularly among the youth in the district.

Acting decisively, the police invoked preventive detention laws to curb their activities and prevent further spread of substance abuse. All eight accused have subsequently been lodged in Subsidiary Jail Kehribal, Anantnag.

The action reflects the firm resolve of Anantnag Police to dismantle drug networks and combat the growing menace of drug abuse. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to stringent action against habitual offenders and have appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information to help eradicate this social issue.
