In a significant breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking, Anantnag Police on Monday busted a concealed narcotics hideout and recovered nearly 3.9 kilograms of charas-like substance in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The operation was carried out in connection with FIR No. 39/2026 registered at Police Station Srigufwara. Acting on specific inputs, police obtained a search warrant under Section 41 of the BNSS from the Court of JMIC Bijbehara to conduct a search at the residence of the accused, identified as Abdul Rashid Bhat of Shitipora.
During the search, the police team detected a hidden storage site allegedly being used for concealing narcotic substances. A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery and seizure of the contraband, which was taken into custody following due legal procedures.
To ensure precision and thoroughness, a K9 squad was also deployed during the operation, assisting the investigating team in locating the concealed hideout.
Officials said all legal formalities were completed on the spot, and the seized material has been secured as evidence in the case. Further investigation is underway.
