Examiner News Desk | Srinagar:

Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Saturday carried out coordinated search operations at multiple locations across Srinagar, Ganderbal and Anantnag districts as part of an ongoing investigation, officials said.

A CIK team searched the residence of Riyaz Ahmad Beigh, son of Noor Mohammad Beigh, originally a resident of Dalal Mohalla in Maharaj Gunj. Officials said Beigh has been residing in Hokarsar, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Shalteng, for the past 16 years.

In a parallel operation, another CIK team led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police conducted a search at the residence of Syed Qalandar Shah, son of Barkat Shah, a resident of Chountwaliwar in the Lar area of Ganderbal district.

Separately, a third CIK team searched the residence of Gulzar Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Gani Rather, a resident of Nowgam in Verinag, Anantnag district. Officials identified Rather as an imam who has been associated with the local Phali Masjid since 2012.

Officials said the search operations were still underway when reports last came in. Authorities have not disclosed the specific purpose of the searches or whether any seizures or detentions were made as part of the ongoing investigation.
