A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Army was injured in a mine blast during a routine patrol in the forward Jhangar sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district on Friday.
According to officials, the incident occurred while an Army patrol was carrying out area domination and surveillance operations in the forward belt of Jhangar. During the patrol, a sudden explosion took place, leaving the JCO injured.
The injured officer has been identified as Naib Subedar Hiteshwar Gogoi of the 14 Assam Regiment.
Following the explosion, fellow soldiers immediately launched a rescue operation and evacuated the injured officer to a nearby military medical facility, where he received first aid. He was later referred to Command Hospital, Udhampur, for advanced treatment.
Army officials said the officer’s condition is being closely monitored. Further details are awaited.
