Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu and Kashmir, has postponed its proposed Secretariat Gherao March at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, which was scheduled to be held on July 20, in view of the flood situation in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.

In a statement, the party said the decision was taken considering the widespread devastation caused by heavy rains and flash floods in the twin districts.

“The BJP Jammu & Kashmir protest (Secretariat Gherao March) at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, scheduled for July 20, 2026, has been postponed due to the flood situation in Rajouri and Poonch,” the statement said.

The party added that a fresh date for the protest march would be announced shortly.

The Secretariat Gherao March had been planned to press the party’s demands before the Jammu and Kashmir administration. However, the programme has been deferred in view of the ongoing rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts in the flood-affected areas.
