The Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES), Jammu and Kashmir, has reconstituted its Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) for the prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment of women at the workplace in accordance with the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
The reconstitution has been notified through Order No. 96-DES of 2026, issued by Director General Reyaz Ahmad Romshoo, superseding all previous orders issued on the subject.
As per the order, Ashu Gupta, Director General and Regional Director (Economics and Statistics), Jammu, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the committee. Deepa Sharma, Principal, SAES Jammu, will serve as the Member Secretary.
The committee also comprises Mohd. Yousuf Bhat, Assistant Director, DES; Ashita Baru, Assistant Director, DES; Shazia Hassan, Statistical Officer, Regional Directorate (Economics and Statistics), Kashmir; and Seema Bhogal, Statistical Officer, DES, as members.
According to the order, the Internal Complaints Committee will examine complaints related to the sexual harassment of women at the workplace, conduct inquiries in accordance with the provisions of the Act, oversee the implementation of the department’s policy on preventing workplace harassment, facilitate the redressal of grievances, and recommend appropriate action to the competent authority wherever required.
To ensure regular monitoring and accountability, the committee has also been directed to submit a monthly report to the Director General, Economics and Statistics, Jammu and Kashmir, by the fifth day of every month.
