A Pakistani national who allegedly crossed into Indian territory inadvertently was handed over to the Pakistan Rangers along the International Border in Jammu on Monday, officials said.
The man, identified as Nazir Sadhir, a resident of Luni Pundra village in Sialkot, was handed over by the Border Security Force (BSF) to the Rangers in the Golpattan Border Out-Post area, officials said.
Sadhir was apprehended in the Kanachak area of Jammu on September 3, shortly after he reportedly crossed into Indian territory from the Pakistani side.
During questioning, officials said he was identified as a resident of a Pakistani border village and had inadvertently crossed the International Border.
Following the inquiry, BSF personnel contacted their Pakistani counterparts and held a flag meeting with the Pakistan Rangers to discuss the matter.
After the formalities were completed, the Pakistani national was handed over to the Rangers, officials added.
The incident was subsequently resolved through established coordination and communication mechanisms between the border forces of the two countries.
