The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday trapped and arrested a clerk posted at the Government Treasury in Kalakot for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
The accused has been identified as Khadam Hussain, officials said.
According to an official, the ACB acted following a complaint alleging that the clerk had demanded illegal gratification from the complainant in connection with an official matter.
After verifying the allegations, the ACB laid a trap and apprehended the accused allegedly red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 20,000 from the complainant.
The accused was taken into custody, and a case has been registered in connection with the alleged offence.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged demand and acceptance of the bribe, officials added.
