The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted search operations at seven locations across Kashmir as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged cross-border terror conspiracy, officials said.
According to officials, NIA teams carried out searches at two locations in Kulgam, three in Bandipora and two in Sopore. The operations were conducted with the assistance of local police and security personnel.
An official said the case relates to an alleged network involving Pakistan-based handlers and local over-ground workers (OGWs) suspected of providing logistical and other support to terrorists who had infiltrated into Jammu and Kashmir.
The investigation is aimed at uncovering the wider network and gathering evidence relating to the alleged conspiracy, including the role of individuals suspected of facilitating the movement or activities of infiltrated terrorists.
The case originated from FIR No. 0024/2026, registered at Police Station Zakoora in Srinagar, and was subsequently re-registered by the NIA as RC-02/2026/NIA/JMU.
The case has been registered under Section 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967; Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act, 1959; and Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908.
The searches were continuing as part of the investigation, officials said. Details regarding any recoveries or other developments emerging from the operations are awaited.
The NIA has been conducting investigations into alleged cross-border terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir, with particular focus on suspected local support structures and their links with handlers operating from across the border.
