Police in Srinagar have attached or frozen four immovable properties collectively valued at around Rs 7.11 crore under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), targeting assets allegedly linked to drug trafficking and terror-related activities.
According to police, the action forms part of an ongoing drive to trace and disrupt financial networks and assets allegedly generated through illicit activities.
The Police Station Zakura attached a residential house and adjoining land at Bilal Colony, Zakura, valued at approximately Rs 2.5 crore and belonging to Owais Ahmad Rather, son of Gh. Mohd Rather.
The action was taken in connection with FIR No. 34/2026 registered under Sections 8/22 and 29 of the NDPS Act. Police said the property was identified during the investigation as having been acquired in connection with illicit drug trafficking.
The property was attached under Section 68-F(1) of the NDPS Act, restricting its sale, lease, transfer, alteration or creation of any third-party interest until further orders of the competent authority.
In a separate action, Police Station Nowgam attached property worth around Rs 2.85 crore belonging to Sheeraz Ahmed Sheikh, son of Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Wagoora, BK Pora.
The property at Wagoora comprises a two-storeyed concrete building, two shops and a rice mill constructed on 18 marlas of land. It was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 121/2023, registered under Sections 8/15 of the Act, after approval from the competent authority.
Meanwhile, Police Station Ahmadnagar attached a residential property at Danihama, Hazratbal, valued at approximately Rs 1.30 crore and belonging to Zahoor Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Gani Mir.
The property comprises a single-storeyed residential house with adjoining land measuring six marlas. Police said the action was linked to FIR No. 20/2026, registered under Section 7/25 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 18-B, 19, 20, 23, 38 and 39 of the UAPA.
The property was attached under Section 25 of the UAPA after prior approval from the competent authority, in the presence of an Executive Magistrate 1st Class and independent witnesses.
Separately, Police Station Shalteng froze a single-storeyed residential house along with seven marlas of land at Check Mujgund, Srinagar, valued at approximately Rs 46 lakh and belonging to Amir Ahmad Mir, son of Mohd Ashraf Mir.
The action was linked to FIR No. 43/2023 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. Police said the investigation established that the property had allegedly been acquired from the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking, following which it was frozen under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
Police said the four actions were part of its continued efforts to identify and act against assets allegedly generated through narcotics trafficking and other illicit activities, including those linked to terror-related offences.
Srinagar Police said it would continue efforts to trace, freeze and attach properties allegedly connected with proceeds of illicit activities and financial networks supporting drug trafficking and terror-related operations.
