Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested three persons and busted an alleged fake currency printing racket operating from a rented room in the Chowadi area of Jammu.
According to police sources, the arrests were made during a late-night operation on Monday following information about a group allegedly involved in printing counterfeit currency notes.
During the raid, police seized counterfeit notes with a face value of ₹13,500, along with a printer, scanning machine, computer and other equipment allegedly used for producing the fake currency.
The arrested persons have been identified as Vijay Sahni, a resident of Bihar; Rahul Ahirwar, a resident of Madhya Pradesh; and Indrapal Kumar, a resident of Jharkhand.
Police said preliminary questioning revealed that the accused had arrived in the area a few days ago and had rented the room from where the alleged operation was being carried out.
The three suspects are being questioned to determine the extent of the racket and ascertain whether counterfeit notes had already been circulated in the market.
Further investigation and questioning are underway.
