The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Rajouri, has suspended the Registration Certificate (RC) of a vehicle after a video showing a woman performing a stunt on its bonnet while it was being driven on a National Highway in Sidhra, Jammu, surfaced on social media.
The vehicle, bearing registration number JK11B-8314 (LMV) and registered in the name of Joni Kumar, has had its RC suspended with immediate effect, according to the transport authorities.
The authorities said the incident amounted to a serious violation of traffic rules and road-safety norms, besides posing a risk to the woman involved, pedestrians and other road users.
The vehicle owner has been directed to submit the driving licence of the driver within seven days for examination and further action under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
The transport authorities have taken the action in view of the safety implications of the stunt and the potential danger posed to other road users on the busy highway.
