The Army detained a 17-year-old girl from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) after she allegedly crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera area of Rajouri district, officials said.
The girl, identified as Samiya Azeem, daughter of Mohd Azeem and a resident of Khuiretta in PoJK, was intercepted by an Army patrol in the Lam sector of Nowshera.
According to officials, the patrol noticed her movement near the LoC and detained her. After preliminary questioning, the Army handed her over to the police for further inquiry.
Samiya is currently being questioned by Nowshera Police. During interrogation, she reportedly claimed that she had inadvertently crossed over to the Indian side of the LoC, officials said.
Police are conducting further investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the crossing.
