36-Year-Old Man Shot Dead During Property Dispute in Samba

Victim allegedly shot in the head at Jakh village in Vijaypur; accused acquaintance arrested, weapon recovered

A 36-year-old man was shot dead during an alleged property dispute in Jakh village of the Vijaypur area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Monday evening, police said.

The victim was identified as Aatish Sharma, alias Atul. According to preliminary information, Sharma was allegedly shot by his acquaintance, Nikhil, at around 6:30 pm during the dispute.

Sharma sustained a gunshot injury to the head and died at the scene, officials said.

Police said the firearm allegedly used in the shooting belonged to the victim. The accused was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the shooting and establish the exact sequence of events, a police officer said.
