Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is scheduled to administer the oath of office and secrecy to new ministers at 10:30 am on Tuesday at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar, as Chief Minister Omar Abdullah prepares to expand and reshuffle his Council of Ministers (CoM).
The exercise will mark the first major cabinet reshuffle since the National Conference (NC)-led government assumed office on October 16, 2024. The changes are expected to fill vacant ministerial positions, accommodate new faces and possibly alter the portfolios of some existing ministers.
According to sources, senior NC leaders Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mir Saifullah, Shameema Firdous and Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi are among those being considered for ministerial positions. Altaf Ahmad Wani, popularly known as Kaloo, Aijaz Jan and Arjun Singh Raju are also among the names discussed for possible induction.
The final list of incoming ministers and their portfolios is expected to become clear after the swearing-in ceremony.
