Agency | New Delhi : Iran has indicated that it is not prepared to enter negotiations with the United States and Israel at present, amid rising tensions in West Asia.

Speaking to reporters, Iran’s Ambassador to India Mohammad Fathali said there were currently no plans for talks with Washington or Tel Aviv.

“As of now, no,” the envoy said when asked whether Tehran was ready to begin negotiations with the United States and Israel.

Commenting on the strategic Strait of Hormuz, Fathali said there was no new development regarding the vital maritime corridor. However, he accused Iran’s adversaries of initiating the conflict.

“We have no news and no formation in this case, but I want to say that Iran demonstrated sincerity. They showed open hostility and they started it,” he said.

The ambassador added that Iran does not seek a war but emphasised that its capabilities should not be underestimated. “They know very well the capacity and capability of Iran. We don’t want war. They started it,” he said.

The remarks come at a time of heightened tensions in the region, with diplomatic exchanges and military developments between Iran, the United States and Israel continuing to raise concerns about further escalation in West Asia.
