Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, has urged the United States and Iran to reach a peace agreement to end the ongoing war, warning that neither side can afford to delay negotiations while waiting for a “perfect moment”.

Speaking during an interview at Oxford University, Sheikh Mohammed stressed the urgency of diplomatic efforts, calling on Washington and Tehran to seize the opportunity to secure a deal and prevent further escalation.

Meanwhile, Iran’s official news agency IRNA reported that two missiles had struck Qeshm Island in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Semi-official Iranian media outlets reported that there were no casualties in the incident.

Amid the developments, US President Donald Trump said Washington was in contact with representatives of Tehran. His remarks came after a telephone conversation with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The diplomatic contacts and reported strikes come at a critical juncture, with regional tensions remaining high and calls mounting for a negotiated settlement to bring the conflict to an end.
