Examiner Bureau | Anantnag: The Municipal Council Anantnag has launched a comprehensive anti-encroachment drive across the town to curb illegal street vending and restore order on major roads.
The action follows directives issued by the Deputy Commissioner, mandating strict enforcement against unauthorized vendors occupying key stretches, particularly from Mehndi Kadal to Janglatmandi. Officials, including the Tax Inspector, Khilafwarzi Inspector, and Demolition Squad, have been tasked with ensuring that no street vendors set up carts along major thoroughfares.
Acting promptly, Municipal Council teams conducted extensive inspections and removal operations in several busy areas, clearing encroachments that were causing congestion and obstructing the smooth movement of traffic and pedestrians.
Authorities stated that the primary objective of the drive is to improve accessibility, enhance public convenience, and maintain a clean and organized urban environment. Officials have also been directed to ensure continuous monitoring to prevent re-encroachment, with strict action warned against any lapse in enforcement.
The Municipal Council has appealed to street vendors to cooperate with the administration and operate only within designated vending zones. The drive is expected to continue in the coming days as part of sustained efforts to keep public spaces free from unauthorized occupation.
