Examiner Bureau | Anantnag: In a significant initiative to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, the District Employment and Counselling Centre, in collaboration with the District Administration Anantnag, organised a Mega Job Fair at Government ITI Ashajipora.

The event was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat (IAS) and witnessed the participation of senior officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Principal ITI, District Employment Officer, and representatives from various departments, along with a large number of aspiring youth and entrepreneurs.

Addressing the gathering, the DDC underscored the importance of such platforms in tackling unemployment and promoting self-reliance among youth. He encouraged job seekers to explore self-employment opportunities and take full advantage of government schemes, particularly the flagship Mission YUVA programme, which has shown encouraging progress in the district.

He further stressed the need for effective implementation of livelihood generation schemes and directed concerned departments to ensure comprehensive support and awareness for job seekers through dedicated outreach initiatives.

During the fair, around 800 candidates participated, with nearly 350 vacancies offered by various reputed companies. Notably, 18 candidates secured on-the-spot placements and were handed offer letters by the DDC.

Dr. Bilal also inspected stalls set up by departments and private firms, interacting with both employers and participants. He distributed sanction letters and handed over keys in the automobile sector under Mission YUVA, promoting entrepreneurship and financial inclusion.

The event reflects the administration’s continued commitment to enhancing employment opportunities and fostering sustainable livelihood avenues for the youth of the district.
