At least two firefighters sustained injuries and four residential houses were damaged after a fire broke out in the Bemina area of Srinagar on Thursday, officials said.
According to officials, the incident occurred near Usmania Colony, where the fire initially erupted in a single house before rapidly spreading to adjacent structures. Within minutes, flames had engulfed four houses, triggering panic among residents.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the scene and launched an intensive operation, successfully bringing the blaze under control and preventing it from spreading further in the densely populated locality.
During the firefighting operation, two personnel—Mohammad Arif and Tanvir Ahmed—were injured while battling the flames. They were provided immediate medical attention.
Authorities have taken cognizance of the incident, and an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the fire.
