Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
National Conference (NC) chief spokesperson and Zadibal MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Thursday dismissed speculation about internal dissent within the party, asserting that the recent provincial meeting was a routine organisational exercise.
Speaking to reporters after the Kashmir provincial meeting at the party headquarters in Srinagar, Sadiq said such meetings are held regularly on a monthly basis to review party affairs and discuss organisational matters.
He, however, noted that the latest meeting carried added importance as it was the first major provincial gathering held after the transition linked to the Darbar Move arrangement.
“There is no dissent within the party. These meetings are part of our regular organisational structure and are conducted every month,” Sadiq said, rejecting rumours of internal differences within the National Conference.
The meeting was attended by senior party leaders, legislators and office bearers, and discussions reportedly focused on organisational coordination, governance issues and the party’s future political strategy in Jammu and Kashmir.
The clarification comes amid heightened political speculation following recent remarks by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and ongoing discussions around governance, statehood and cabinet expansion in the Union Territory.
