Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday inaugurated the India Golf Carnival 2026 at the prestigious Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the event, the Chief Minister said the golf tournament would play an important role in boosting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir and help project the Union Territory as a premier global travel and sports destination.

Omar Abdullah said Jammu and Kashmir possesses immense potential for golf tourism owing to its scenic beauty, pleasant climate, and world-class golf courses. He added that hosting national and international sporting events would not only attract tourists but also generate economic opportunities for local businesses associated with the tourism sector.

The Chief Minister further stated that such events help strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s image as a peaceful and vibrant destination capable of hosting major sporting and tourism activities.

The India Golf Carnival 2026 has brought together golfers, tourism stakeholders, and sports enthusiasts from different parts of the country, with the event expected to promote sports tourism and hospitality in the Kashmir Valley.
