A 12-year-old girl who had been missing since Saturday was found dead in a field in Galwanpora village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday morning, officials said.
According to officials, the girl went missing on Saturday, following which her family members and local residents launched a search operation to trace her.
Her body was recovered from a nearby field on Sunday, sending shock and grief across the area. Police officials soon reached the spot, took cognisance of the incident and initiated legal proceedings.
Authorities said further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is underway.
