Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has sparked widespread discussion online after fans noticed significant changes to his Instagram following list. The director-producer has reportedly unfollowed several Bollywood celebrities, including close friends Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and designer Manish Malhotra.
Fans also observed that actors Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Malaika Arora and Ananya Panday no longer appear on the filmmaker’s following list. As of Thursday evening, Karan Johar was reportedly following only 78 accounts despite having more than 17 million followers on the platform.
Interestingly, the filmmaker also unfollowed Kartik Aaryan, who is set to headline Karan Johar’s upcoming production Naagzilla. Meanwhile, fans initially noticed that Priyanka Chopra was still among the accounts he followed despite past fallout rumours. However, users later pointed out that Karan currently appears to be following no Bollywood actors at all.
The only prominent names now visible on his following list are Dharma Productions CEO Apoorva Mehta and businessman Adar Poonawalla, both closely associated with his professional circle.
The reason behind the sudden unfollow spree remains unclear, and Karan Johar has not publicly commented on the matter so far.
On the work front, Karan Johar’s latest production, Chand Mera Dil, starring Lakshya and Ananya Panday, recently released in theatres and reportedly received mixed reviews with a modest box office response.
