A woman lost her life after being struck by lightning during a severe thunderstorm in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Tuesday, officials confirmed.
The deceased, identified as Pinki Devi, was a resident of Khuddhar village. According to official reports, the lightning strike caught her completely exposed during the sudden tempest, resulting in her death on the spot.
Expressing deep grief over the sudden tragedy, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended his sympathies to the family.
“My sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Pinki Devi from Khuddhar, Doda, who tragically passed away due to a lightning strike,” Lieutenant Governor Sinha stated.
The Lieutenant Governor further confirmed that the Doda district administration has been mobilized to support the family during this time, noting that the Deputy Commissioner has received explicit directives to arrange immediate relief and administrative assistance.
