The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Wednesday executed extensive searches at eight locations across six districts of the Valley, targeting Pakistan-sponsored terrorist outfits, sleeper cell networks, and active radicalization modules linked to a decade-old case.
According to senior officials, the coordinated operations are tied to FIR No. 02/2015, registered at the CIK Srinagar Police Station. The case involves stringent legal provisions, including Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, Sections 15, 16, 17, and 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and Section 7/25 of the Arms Act.
Following recent intelligence inputs, rigorous technical analysis, and sustained investigations, investigators zeroed in on specific suspect locations. The ongoing raids are distributed across the region, encompassing two locations in Srinagar, two in Bandipora, and one each in Kupwara, Anantnag, Kulgam, and the Sopore area of Baramulla district.
The suspects under surveillance are allegedly in regular contact with Pakistan-based terrorist handlers via encrypted communication platforms. Officials suspect their direct involvement in distributing extremist propaganda, driving local radicalization efforts, and logistically facilitating terrorism in the region.
“The searches are aimed at recovering incriminating material, establishing terrorist linkages, identifying associates, facilitators, and overground workers, and generating actionable intelligence to further the investigation,” a CIK official stated.
The agency confirmed that all necessary legal formalities were fulfilled, including securing search warrants from the competent court. The multi-district operation is being conducted in compliance with established legal procedures, backed by heavy security deployments and specialized technical support teams.
