The National Conference (NC) has decided to escalate its campaign for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, with all party legislators set to travel to New Delhi on the opening day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session to press for constitutional guarantees and the restoration of democratic rights.

The decision was taken during a marathon meeting of NC legislators chaired by the party’s senior leadership. The meeting focused on the prevailing political situation and strategies to advance the demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s constitutional status and statehood.

Addressing the media after the meeting, NC Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq said the party would raise the issue forcefully in the national capital, asserting that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve the restoration of their democratic and constitutional rights.

“It is time to reclaim what has been taken away from us,” Sadiq said, reiterating that the restoration of statehood remains the National Conference’s foremost political priority.

He said the party would continue to pursue its objectives through democratic and constitutional means and would seek support from political parties across the country during the Parliament session.

The NC leadership maintained that the fight for statehood and constitutional safeguards is a matter of public mandate and pledged to continue its efforts until Jammu and Kashmir’s rights are fully restored.
