Amid reports of unrest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth on Wednesday said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are living in peace and prosperity, while those across the border continue to face violence and instability.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Seth reassured citizens about the country’s security, stating that India remains secure under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

“The citizens of the country need not worry. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, there is nothing to fear. No one can even dare to raise an eye against India,” Seth said.

The minister was in Srinagar to visit the revered Hazratbal Shrine, where he inaugurated a cleanliness drive under the theme ‘12 Saal Bemisaal’, commemorating 12 years of the Modi government at the Centre.

Highlighting the prevailing peace in Jammu and Kashmir, Seth pointed to the steady growth in tourism in the Union Territory. Referring to the tourist influx following the Pahalgam terror attack, he said that approximately 1.77 crore tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir during 2025 and expressed confidence that the figure could touch three crore in 2026.

“People are eager to visit Kashmir. Our citizens want to come here, which is why Prime Minister Modi has encouraged people to explore destinations within India, including Kashmir and the Northeast, instead of travelling abroad,” he said.

Seth also praised the Centre’s economic management amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, saying the country has remained stable despite global uncertainties.

“There is a war-like situation in the Middle East, yet there is no panic in our markets. Essential supplies remain available, prices have not risen drastically, and the situation remains peaceful. We do not have oil wells, yet fuel prices have seen only minimal increases,” he said.

Marking Prime Minister Modi’s completion of 12 years in office, Seth described the occasion as significant for the nation and credited the Prime Minister with transforming both the country and Jammu and Kashmir.

“Prime Minister Modi has changed the destiny and image of the nation as well as Kashmir. He has completed 4,399 days as the elected Prime Minister. This morning, I offered prayers at the Shankaracharya Temple and participated in a cleanliness drive before visiting Hazratbal Shrine to pray for his good health and long life,” he said.

Seth added that people across the country are praying for the Prime Minister’s well-being and asserted that India is progressing rapidly while maintaining peace and stability.
