Producer Amit Jani, whose upcoming film Kala Hiran has been at the centre of controversy, has claimed that he received a second death threat within 24 hours, just hours after lodging a police complaint regarding an earlier threat.
In a fresh complaint submitted to the police in Jodhpur, Jani alleged that an unidentified caller threatened to kill him within the next three days. Sharing a copy of the complaint on X, the producer urged law enforcement authorities to take immediate action and arrest the person responsible.
According to the complaint, Jani received a threatening phone call at around 11:06 pm from an unknown number. He claimed that the caller identified himself as a fan of Bollywood actor Salman Khan and warned him of dire consequences, including murder, within three days. Jani further stated that he had recorded the caller’s voice and provided the details to the police.
The producer noted that the threat came only hours after he had reported another alleged threat, which he claimed was issued by a Pakistan-based individual identified as Shahzad Brahmadag Bugti. Jani said he had already informed the police about that communication earlier in the day.
Expressing concern for his safety, Jani requested the authorities to register a case and expedite the arrest of the caller. In his complaint, he alleged that the individual issuing the threat could be linked to extremist elements, though no official confirmation of such claims has been made.
On June 18, Jani publicly alleged through a social media post that he had been receiving threatening calls and messages from a person he described as a “Pakistani terrorist.” He claimed that the threats were linked to the release of Kala Hiran and that he had informed the Ministry of Home Affairs, Rajasthan Police and CRPF officials.
Jani also alleged that he was facing pressure over the film’s release and accused unnamed individuals of attempting to intimidate him. He maintained that despite the threats, he would not withdraw the project.
Kala Hiran is reportedly inspired by events surrounding the blackbuck poaching case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The film has generated attention due to its subject matter, with Jani alleging that he has faced opposition over its release.
Police have not yet issued an official statement on the latest complaint. Further investigation is underway.
