Baramulla Police on Saturday dismissed as false and baseless reports circulating on social media claiming that Army personnel were injured at Asha Post in the Gulmarg sector, warning that strict legal action would be taken against those responsible for spreading misinformation.
In an official statement, a police spokesperson clarified that no Army personnel had sustained injuries at Asha Post and described the viral claims as entirely unfounded.
“The information is completely false, baseless and devoid of any factual basis. No Army personnel have sustained any injuries at Asha Post,” the spokesperson said.
Police said the circulation of inaccurate and unverified information has the potential to create unnecessary panic, mislead the public and adversely affect public order. Citizens have been urged to rely only on information disseminated through official channels.
The police further stated that they have taken cognisance of the matter and warned that anyone found creating or sharing false information with the intent to mislead the public or disturb peace would face strict action under the relevant provisions of law.
Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace, public order and transparency, Baramulla Police said it would continue to provide accurate and timely information through official platforms while taking firm action against the spread of fake news.
