The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a high-level committee to coordinate preparations for the Union Territory’s participation as the Partner UT in the 9th India International Water Week (IIWW) 2026, scheduled to be held from September 22 to 26 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
According to Government Order No. 1191-JK(GAD) of 2026, dated July 9, 2026, the committee has been entrusted with coordinating all necessary preparations for the event. The order also authorises the panel to co-opt any organisation or individual as a special invitee, if required.
The committee will be chaired by the Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission, Jammu and Kashmir. Its members include the Director Planning, Jal Shakti Department; Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti I&FC Department, Jammu; Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti PHE Department, Kashmir; Technical Advisor, Jal Jeevan Mission, Kashmir; representatives of the Finance Department, Forest, Ecology and Environment Department, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, and Housing and Urban Development Department, all not below the rank of Additional Secretary. Other members include the Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Kupwara/Handwara; Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Srinagar; and the Technical Officer attached with the Executive Engineer, Ground Water, Jammu. The Additional Secretary, General Administration Department, will serve as the Member Secretary.
The committee has been tasked with identifying and shortlisting best practices in the water sector implemented by various departments, finalising a documentary film for presentation during the event, preparing content and exhibition material for the Jammu and Kashmir pavilion, and recommending suitable delegates to represent the Union Territory at the conference.
