The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch on Saturday filed a chargesheet against a man accused of allegedly encroaching upon more than two-and-a-half kanals of state land in Rajouri district.
The chargesheet against Yash Paul, a resident of Bhajwal village, was presented before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC), Sunderbani, in connection with the alleged state land encroachment case, a Crime Branch spokesperson said.
According to the spokesperson, the case was registered at the Crime Branch (EOW) police station following a written complaint submitted by Acharya Rajesh Kumar Prashar.
The complaint alleged that Paul, in connivance with certain officials of the Revenue and Forest departments, had illegally encroached upon state land.
The Crime Branch initiated an investigation into the allegations and subsequently completed the necessary legal formalities before filing the chargesheet before the competent court.
The case pertains to alleged encroachment of government land in Rajouri district in 2022. The investigation is aimed at establishing the circumstances surrounding the alleged encroachment and determining the role, if any, of officials accused of facilitating or assisting the illegal occupation.
The chargesheet marks the culmination of the Crime Branch’s investigation into the allegations and will now be examined by the court in accordance with law.
The Crime Branch has been pursuing cases relating to alleged land encroachment and irregularities involving public property, with investigations also focusing on possible collusion between private individuals and government officials.
