The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered the transfer of IAS officer Prasanna Ramaswamy G from Jammu and Kashmir to Lakshadweep with immediate effect and until further orders.
Ramaswamy, a 2010-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, was serving as Commissioner/Secretary of the Tribal Affairs Department in the Jammu and Kashmir Government prior to his transfer.
He took charge of the Tribal Affairs Department in June 2024 after serving as Secretary in the Revenue Department, according to records of the Jammu and Kashmir General Administration Department.
During his tenure as head of the Tribal Affairs Department, Ramaswamy was responsible for overseeing administrative matters related to tribal welfare, development and implementation of government programmes concerning tribal communities in Jammu and Kashmir.
His transfer now places him with the Lakshadweep administration, following the order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Before being assigned the Tribal Affairs portfolio, Ramaswamy had served as Secretary to the Jammu and Kashmir Government in the Revenue Department.
Ramaswamy, who hails from Tamil Nadu, was born on February 27, 1987. He holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree as well as a Master of Arts in Economics.
The latest transfer is part of the administrative changes involving officers of the AGMUT cadre, which covers several Union Territories, including Jammu and Kashmir and Lakshadweep.
The officer is expected to take up his new assignment in Lakshadweep as per the directions contained in the Ministry of Home Affairs’ transfer order.
