REASI: At least three people were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in the Thub area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district on Tuesday evening, officials said.
According to officials, the vehicle, bearing registration number JK14B-1284, was travelling from Reasi towards Thub when the driver lost control near Thub, causing it to roll down a steep hillside.
All three occupants sustained fatal injuries in the accident and died on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Prem Singh (50), son of Omkar Singh and a resident of Thub; Santosh Devi (48), wife of Prem Singh and a resident of Thub; and Durgi Devi (75), wife of Sarwan and a resident of Jij Bagli.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
The bodies have been shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Panassa, where medico-legal formalities are being completed before they are handed over to the bereaved families.
